The main theory behind Reiki energy is that it can be passed on from the practitioner to the recipient via the practitioner’s palms. A Reiki practitioner undergoes training in order to learn this technique so that Reiki energy can be transferred to the recipient during the treatment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Here are a couple of frequently asked questions about this holistic energy of healing:

  • Where is this energy from?

Reiki energy is neither made up of chemicals nor electricity. It is the spiritual energy derived from the Higher Power which exists in a higher dimension than the physical world we are in. The true source of Reiki energy is inside us spiritually. This does not mean that we use our personal energy when we do Reiki, but that energy is coming from a part of ourselves that is connected to a never-ending supply of healing energy.

  • How does it enter the body?

Reiki energy enters the body via the crown Chakra of the practitioner.

  • Can you be religious and practice Reiki at the same time?

Reiki is not a religion. It’s not meant to replace your religious beliefs. Anyone can practice Reiki without worrying about their beliefs.

  • How is this Reiki treatment given?

In a typical session, you will be asked to lie down while wearing comfortable clothing. The practitioner might meditate first in order to jumpstart the Reiki energy. The practitioner places her/his hands on or near the recipient’s body in a series of hand positions. This is done in order to transfer Reiki to you. The energy will pass into you as the practitioner holds his or her hands over your body or even by light tapping.

The hands of the practitioner may feel warm. That means that energy is being passed on to the recipient.

Can Reiki Treat People?

Reiki Training is just meant to encourage well-being by establishing balance in the body and by relieving stress. Reiki has had a positive effect on all forms of illness and negative conditions. This includes minor things like colds and flu.

Many people notice a difference after the first treatment, and the benefits increase with more sessions.  Most people experience stress reductions with some improvements in their physical and psychological condition.

After Treatment

What can you expect after receiving Reiki? Most people feel a sense of deep relaxation. You might also feel a sense of well-being as tension, fear, anxiety, and worries are seemingly washed away. What one experiences during a Reiki treatment differs from person to person.

Passing On Reiki Energy

You can be a Reiki practitioner to pass on energy to other people. Do you know that you can finish the first degree of training after just a day or two of training? After attaining the first degree, you can start passing on the energy to yourself or to other people.

Subsequently, you can also undergo the second degree of training. The second degree will teach you Reiki symbols to increase the strength of the Reiki energy. You should also consider the Reiki Master level if you’re interested in teaching Reiki to people.
